Space Willing N Dealing

As our name suggests, Space Willing N Dealing (WD) is a flexible, multidisciplinary cultural center in Seoul that is dedicated to helping creators carry out new projects. Since being established as a non-profit art organization in 2012, WD has pursued its mission of fostering contemporary art projects and enhancing cultural discourse by providing a space where artists can freely experiment with their ideas and interests. WD is directed by Inseon Kim, a curator with around twenty years of experience in Korean contemporary art, including with the Busan Biennale, Gwangju Biennale, Daelim Museum, Kukje Gallery, and Interalia Gallery. After hosting a number of exhibitions in its original location near Itaewon, WD moved to a larger venue in Bangbae-dong in April 2015, before relocating again in 2019 to Seochon, one of the art centers of Seoul. In addition to presenting solo exhibitions from both young and established artists, WD also operates its Curator Incubating Program and Art Market Projects. When working with established artists, our curators actively communicate and collaborate to help them explore new paths that diverge from their previous works. One of our most unique programs is “PT & Critic,” which gives young artists a chance to host their first exhibition, while inviting other established artists, critics, and curators to provide constructive criticism and build a network. To reduce artists’ reliance on government funding, WD recently started its Art Market Projects with SOLO SHOW (2018), organized with other commercial galleries.
